I'm 19, and currently on my gap year. Instead of going round the world getting drunk I've been working full-time as a Systems Administrator, and getting a proper salary for it. Doing a placement job really.
I could really do with a Credit Card, as I don't like buying things online with my Debit Card. That and the fact that when I'm a student having a Credit Card will be useful.
I'm with Lloyds TSB for my current account, and will be staying with them as a student. Whenever I log into my online banking I get the "You could apply for a credit card" thing.
Preamble over.
The question is, if I were to get a normal credit card now (Advance MasterCard they call it), would I be able to keep it when I go to having a student account? Or will it be cancelled and replaced with a student credit card? (which will be a lot more stingy than a proper credit card) The normal credit card (applied for now I'm a worker) but tied to my Student account (when I am one) would be the ideal situation!
The thing is I'm paranoid of killing my credit rating or something!
