credit card 'Pending charges'

Not sure wither to place this thread under gaming or general, but its more to do with credit cards.

Yesteday I dediced to upgrade to burning crusade (BC) for wow. I play the US servers as I work nights and there more active, After going onto thier online site and entering my details on. It told me my credit card# was wrong.

It wasnt, but I tried a few times. Since this is the same card I subscribe with as well. To be on the safe side I decided to call my card company. Egg. This is a Visa card. They told me initially that Id worked up $260 dollars of charges in the last 10 minutes. That all trasactions had been authorised, and I should check this with blizzard.

Blizzard said that transactions had been declined and account not upgraded. I believe this is a fault with thier merchant system, I m told these charges are simply pending charges.

Have been told that it can take upto 1 week for these to vanish. This is really annoying as having these charges on my account worry me, I dont want to go out and get the boxed upgrade until they disappear.

Anyone else expierenced this with online transactions?

hrm, thats a pretty bad experience.

It sounds like your card was auth'd (checks you have balance and holds it for ~5-7 days) by Blizzard and although the auth was successful something else stopped it going through their fraud filters (quite likely it was your AVS check, you weren't trying to put it through as a US address were you?)

While the money on the card does appear held it is still yours while its in a pending state, but it will count towards your limit afaik. If Blizzard have said they have rejected the transactions i wouldn't worry about it going through, however unfortunately it will just take time to leave the account

I did not put it though a US address. It was the US.COM site.

However I have used the same same for my subscription to this game, and havent had a problem.

I ended up calling the states and they said my account hasnt been upgraded to the Burning crusade. I called Amercain Express this morning as its a free call, I used this card twice, they said qoute 'It looks like one of the transaction are going through' He checked qoute 'His mainframe'. Offcially they have to wait until it goes onto my statement.

This is really bad, as me and my G/F get married in the coming months. I am really disappointed that such a large company provides such poor service as this.

I feel like just not playing now due to such a bad expierence with the company. It makes me loose complete faith.
