hi

ive installed oscommerce on my website..everything is installed correctly

i have make it accept all major uk credit cards..

but my question is ..once i get these details...how do i go about taking payment from these accounts and making it show on in the customers bank account as "payment www.mydomain.com"?

thanks in advanced

is there no cheap option that sagepay thats 20 a month

will the inbuilt one in oscommerce not work?

makes you wonder why they put it there if it doesn't?

Could try Paypal's website payments standard, where you're charged on a per transaction basis.

I'd recommend Sagepay though - am just using their Direct method for the first time and the amount of additional checking and security makes it much better than Paypal for me. They also have a UK helpline :)

You will certainley need a "merchant account" as others have mentioned, this is in addition to a Sagepay account, and it's not as straightforward as you might think.

Sagepay do offer a merchant account service on top of the Sagepay Go, but you have to provide various documentation to achieve this, I would suggest you have a good read of what is involved on the Sagepay site as there's lots of info on there.
Then there is PCI DSS to consider which is lots of fun!

Depending what you want to do, it might be easier going the Paypal route.

The merchant account through Sage Pay is from HBoS, yep you'll need to provide docs but tbh it's the same when applying with any of the banks.

PCI DSS on HBoS merchant account is extra but seems cheaper than a 3rd party auditor. Not sure if Direct is more expensive, as your code collects the card details first and represents a bigger security risk than using the gateway's payment page.

Why not use Google Checkout to take the cards - you get the money and their credit card statement will then show your website.

Lot easier and a lot cheaper than trying to go the merchant account way (in my opinion!)

All you will need is SSL on your payment page, but as you are talking about credit card details I am guessing you have that bit already.

no legitimate company are going to use an external process like google checkout

So you want to have complete control over the checkout? Then you are looking at something like SagePay direct. You are also going to face PCIDSS with that solution and I don't envy that at all.

We planned to use Direct, but Form just cut out so much hassle we went with that. Our merchant account is with Barclays as we already banked with them.

A lot of big internerd companies have google\paypal checkouts, a few competitors do too. I prefer using a site which has google checkout as it stores all my details with google, so say I buy something from X company, then a week later from Y ltd, they have all my details already there, no need to bother with entering them all in again.

I use PayPal and NoChex.

Nochex is no monthly charge, but is a set-up fee, and the small volume I get through it compared to PayPal makes it worth it. If its large volume and cost, go for sagepay.

PayPal and GoogleCheckout are both large companies, and trust me, people prefer a provider that saves all their card details and all they need is a username and password.
