Hi,

Picked up a fault on one of my DELL 2407's so I called Dell, got straight through and spoke to a tech. called Andy (Scottish). He obviously has to run through a few checks to ensure that the monitor was indeed faulty which I happily completed (although I knew the monitor was borked).

10 minutes later it's all sorted, new monitor being delivered to me on Monday.

A huge consideration when buying a monitor for me is what happens if it goes wrong, DELL come up trumps again! :)

HEADRAT

Good stuff HEADRAT, glad everything went smoothly. It's a shame that my DELL 2407 has a couple of stuck pixels, luckily they aren't visible unless you spend hours hunting for them. :p

Glad to hear you will be getting a replacement soon. Well done DELL. :)

Fingers crossed I don't get any dead pixels on the new screen :)

The fault is on my 2407 is easily cleared just by turning it on/off, I might be cheeky and check the new screen for dead pixels before I swap!

Meaning he wasn't Indian and I could understand what he was saying, before anybody starts I'm not being racist it's just that I hate offshore call-centres where you just can't understand the staff.

A recent call to a call offshore call center had me spelling my name using the phonetic alphabet, the problem was the guy on the end couldn't even understand that, I just hung up!

we deal with dell a lot as most of our hardware are from them and lately theyve been excellent. although they use to cause us problems, but we've sorted that now.

doing warranties online is even better. next day delivery, makes our job easier.

its great to know thanks, hopefully I won't be needing to call them anytime soon. just curious if they asked for the Works Number or the Serial Number of the LCD, I should write it down just in case.

Yeah - I miss call centres with native english speakers :S lol

I'm not racist in the slightest, but if I have to talk to someone, I would really appreciate it if they could understand me! Basic things like tech support, banks etc... should have english call centres.

Very valid point and i agree. And I'm sure lots of other people would too - shame some of these big company's wont cotton onto that fact

I also agree with the above, I'm not being racist. i don't have a problem talking to Indian people. Just people who cannot speak/understand English (and as it happens with call centers they often are Indian).

Anyway - good to hear :) fingers crossed for the new one!

Good to hear mate, I had great experiences with BenQ myself when I stupidly thought my monitor had broken (just pressed a button by mistake) and the nice lady on the phone was just happy that my monitor wasn't broken and didn't call me an idiot!:P

Iiyama and NEC support/warranty replacements are usually great too... Unlike Acer...

You joking?

Acer are by far the best company I've dealt with for warranty support.

I've had/got a few Acer TFT's and one of them "died" overnight. I called Acer in the morning who instructed me to box it up and informed me that DHL would collect it that afternoon.

Sure enough DHL collected it and 48 hours later it was back and good as new.

I dont think Dells support is any good, they admit and state theres issues with the 2407 HC and then dont fix them but carry on selling them.

They have lost many customers including myself over there fiasco, so they score a zero in support/customer services imo.

Such a shame considering they offer next day business-dead pixel warrantys and 4 years cover...... that doesnt make up sadly.

Id much rather speak to an indian call center then a scottish or welsh accent, I total get thrown off by there accents ! its sad but true but Indian Call Centers are hear to stay :)
