Hi Chaps!

Ok here goes...I am a total nooooob when it comes to cars so be gentle with me...

I purchased a Clio 1.2 16v 51 plate, my first car :)

I park it on my drive way when not in use, but my driveway is on a pretty steep angle, 30 degrees(approx). Now when I park up, handbrake on etc.... Im getting a weird noise from the back end, like creeking. It only happens when I park it on the drive way.

Is it something I should be concerned about?

If I goto the back of the car and start to rock it the noise comes back.....

thanks for your help in advance.

Ok.......thanks for the reply............feel a bit better now.....

Put the handbrake on and leave the car in reverse or first depending upon which way your car is facing if the handbrake goes the car will only move a few inches. :)

100% normal, I guess drum and disk brakes do this both.

I once had my car parked up on our drive with a bit of a slope and I must have been driving it hard beforehand. Anyhow the brakes cooled (contracted) which released the rear disk brakes (handbrake) and it rolled back 10 metres, missing the two gate posts and right into the road  :o

Moral is always leave it in a low gear, tyres turned into the kerb is good too. Iam not sure if I only left it in gear maybe and it slipped out, both is good idea anyhow.

Another time I saw a brand new Audi A6 or something slipping, about to slam into the wall 5 metres behind so I held it quickly and yelled for the owner to come back - he had only just parked it. Reckon I should have got a tenner reward for that one at least
