Crippled GPU performance in new mobo

Hi all,

Wondering if anybody knows what is most likely to be causing my GTX980 to be hugely underperforming in benchmarks having been switched to a new Z97 motherboard, compared with what it was doing before?

3dmark firestrike dropping from 14000 to around 4000

Unigine Heaven dropping from around 2000 to around 900.

CPU is 4770K, and there is no overheating.

Unfortunately everything is currently back in old motherboard - was hoping for inspiration as to what it might be before new motherboard takes the blame (as all other components are tried and tested).

I tried changing it between auto and PCI-Express 3.0 but not sure where to look for readout of actual speed attained.

Cheers everyone - it's going into an H97N Wifi (a mini ITX board with only one PCI-Express slot). I'd thought about updating the BIOS in case some dodgy setting had become active e.g. restricting the RAM performance. Will check GPU-Z too.

Uh woops (shouldn't write queries when tired) - but it is still a 16x PCI-Express 3.0 slot.
