Down under mate!
In-light of recent issue I have no choice but to change criteria for MM access.

You now need a 1000 posts and need to have been a member for at least 180 days for the MM to appear. Anyone found spamming to gain entry will have their post count reduced and receive a suspension.

Anyone who gained access under the old criteria of 250 posts and 90 days will not be affected.

I sound like a dot dot dot, that's mature. The whole suggestion that someone will sit down, review 1,000 posts of a user to decide if they are going to buy from someone is just absolutely ridiculous and in no way shape or form does it mean you will not in anyway be ripped off. Buying second hand items, or even brand new items through a forum without any sort of law or protection is a risk.

It seems that some people think the 1000 posts is to weed at the dodgy traders, but that was not my main reason for increasing the post count.

There are plenty on MM users with 3/400 posts who are honest people selling/buying in the MM. One of the main reasons for the 1000 posts is to stop people signing up purely for MM access!

That is wrong and needs to be curbed. Yes sign up, but get involved in the great community that OcUK is. Post and be helpful and before you know you will reach the finishing line.

Why do some people find that so hard to understand. :(

That's only one side of the coin though to be fair.

Some people could look upon it as cliquey behaviour. It could rub some people up the wrong way and potentially lose business for OCUK.

I'm not saying that's my opinion, I'm more bothered by the fact that my integrity is being questioned based upon post count which absolute tosh.

Hard luck. The MM is a privilege, not a RIGHT, so you need to get over it.

I suggest you spend less time in this thread and maybe spend more time contributing to various threads across the forums. Give yourself 2-3 months and you may well reach a 1000 posts.;)

What i've seen is if your a long term here your covered, the staff in the forum on that section favour the regulars way too much! Just what i seen as well as heard!

AV forums you get to apeal, proper contact with mods, no hidden stuff like it is here and what not. You also stick your location and all my recent trades have been done with an address given! This is a rule which not all follow but if it it did itd allow for an ass kicking if someone defered from the sale!

payment via paypal only, a payment to use the section via paypal will give ocuk forums an address. £1. id pay that to use the section knowing i've given my address for this!

AV have plenty of bad deals. So your argument is flawed.

I have a question, if my postcount drops dramatically will my access be revoked?
A large proportion of my posts are in the customer service section which I believe is cleaned up periodically, so I'd hate to have a few hundred posts disappear overnight along with my MM access :p

No mate, access will not be removed.

Basically as soon as you reach the criteria your user-group changes to allow MM access. The only way it would be lost now, is if you lose it yourself due to constantly breaking the rules.

how would i wanna "tout my wares" by looking for a cheap second hand graphics card on MM?

oh well, looks like ill be posting more in the general discussion area about "tulisa's sex tape" and fridge freezer advice, because thats what i would normally do on an overclockers forum

Contribute. :)

MM is over rated anyway, just people selling their old junk :D

Makes note to remove access.

whilst i dont really agree with the way it was said, i can also see the point.
i dont have MM access and wont have for a long time. but i am a member of a lot of other fourums and the classifeds are a great place.

whils i CAN and HAVE seen the need for rules like this i can also see the advantages of being allowed to buy from the MM,

people who are learning about or just getting into computers are the people most likely to buy second hand parts from the MM, also people (like myself) feel underqualified to post in most of the sections due to just starting to learn about it. this is made worse when people are being accused of spamming or trolling, sometimes it just puts you off posting.

Waves at fellow Andover lad. :)
