So a long time ago I used to do front end webdev (back when tables were used for layout). I'm trying to get my skills in this area back up to speed so have been working up a skeleton template which I think is good on mobile or desktop.

My WIP template is at http://cosdb.org/character.html if anyone feels like critiqueing it.

At first glance I'm impressed with black cat as a choice of content. :)

Is there a reason you're not using a framework like bootstrap, is it just to test/learn for yourself? If so you could look up.

http://alistapart.com/article/using-responsive-images-now

for some cutting edge image handling.

Personally I'd look into bootstrap too as the framework is pretty powerful.
But from a quick look you're a long way past the old tables day so well done, I'll have another nose when I have more time.

Looks good and is responsive on various screen sizes.

Only issue I can see is on full screen the grey box "The Black Cat was a anti...", seems to have part of the header in it. disappears as screen size decreases

I'm not using a framework as this is a learning experiment for me, I wan't to know how it actually works - once I have that knowledge then i'm happy to glue bootstrap in.

The responsive images link was good :)

FWIW, I'm currently working on one of the bigger websites in the UK that does > 1000 requests a second so knowing this front end stuff would be useful.

Yeah I know about that one, need to make the background flat coloured and not transparent. The other thing I know about is on smaller resolutions the fonts run right to the edges.
