Will this be futureproof and be easily upgradeable and be able to play games to come, be reliable, and play my most loved games quick thanks to the SSD?
Also I can't find out but which processor is faster, the 955 or 965 @ 3.8 ghz ty.

Looks perfect mate....the 965 is quicker for now.....there is 6 core cpu's around the corner and there said to be coming in very cheap compared to intels 980x so it may be worth waiting if you can...if you cant then what you have chosen is very good......I would suggest a bigger SSD as 40gb isnt a lot considering many games now 5gb+ and Windows takes a large chunk also.....something like 64gb or 80gb might be better?
 
Might be a good idea, the Intel-M has a bigger controller than the Intel-V too, it is quite a lot more cash though. God I hope they releasee some good online shooters soon :D

Is there any sort of ETA on the 6 Core AMD's?
 
buy the overclocked bundle parts separately, overclock it yourself with help on here & save 35 quid in the process. With the extra 35 quid buy a bigger SSD.
 
My opinion is the extra OCUK add on to the overclocked bundles over the price of the individual parts is good value. You get a CPU chosen that will definately achieve the overclock, all the setup and stability testing done for you, and the overclock is warranted. The extra seems to vary depending on what bundle and the fluctuating prices of the components, but if it's just £35 for that one, seems worth it to me.
 
I would go for at least an 80gb ssd mate. I have an 80gb intel and it rapidly filled up with windows, office and just gta iv.

If 40gb is all you can afford right now, then I would suggest holding off on the ssd for a few months until you can afford something bigger (although swapping your boot drive later may prove a bit of a hassle.)

I have that corsair psu and the samsung spinpoint - both a very good.

As above. a 400MHz overclock isn't that fantastic anyhow and probably isn't worth the £35. Go with the 955 black edition (unlocked multi so should be very easy to OC yourself) and save yourself £55.
 
+1 to getting the parts separate instead of the overclocked bundle
+1 to getting the Phenom II x4 955, as its cheaper

Also it might be worth looking at that case in person, its quite huge and as its £100, you got to like the look of it. With the cable management opportunities the case offers, you could go for a non modular corsair, saving you some more!

People are forgetting the SSD won't noticeably speed up games, if at all, as the game is loading it will be faster with SSD, once in game it will be already loaded into the ram and running from there, so no or little FPS change, You're going for an awesome graphics card though, but personally I'd get an i7 over a SSD for the price difference

I spent under £900, got a i7 920, 6gb ram, x-fi, 5850, 1tb hdd, case, psu, mouse, hdmi cable, titan fenrir and headset, so if you do similar, then you can get the 5870 with it for under 1000, but with your case and psu, etc.. over 1000 but still cheaper than you have that bundle for up there, plus you aren't going for the x-fi, hdmi, mouse and headset..

You can save £15 by getting the sapphire 5870, and if you still want to get the SSD, it's just over your original price, gets you a i7, tri-channel ram and 6gb ram

EDIT: Very future proof... i7 turbo mode.. better overclock.. 4ghz quite easily.. more ram..

If you aren't overclocking the GPU, get a 5850, OC it beyond the 5870 speeds, save £100, you could save a small amount by getting slower ram if you wanted to, or just 3gb

i can highly recommend the case, i've had mine for 6+ months and i'm still very happy with it, it's also a dream to build with, i also have a 1.5Tb f3 in my server and it's great, fast and quite what more can you want from a hdd :) also runs cool not that that's an issue in the HAF, also as above get the 5850 and overclock it that will free up some more cash for a larger SSD (just steer clear of Patriot SSD's...... BAD)
 
You'll still see better performance with an i7 than a SSD, but if you wanna go for both that's cool, my HDD is pretty slow but I get no lag in big games like Crysis warhead.. OC'd 5850, OC'd i7 3.9+ turbo = 4.1, 50ish fps average, full gamer settings, 1080p
 
Well I have a considerable budget to spend, I mean I could spend whatever I want in reality. I just want value for the money I spend, I don't want to spend stupidly ofc.

I'll be playin at a large res, and now I guess it's just playing around with a few more component mixes
 
Well I would get i7 if you can afford it, if you are going over £1000 and not i7... I dunno why.. you can still OC the 5870 or even look into the newest nvidia, you can still get a SSD for loading times, but that is all it will improve, not FPS, even the slower i5 750 goes faster than the AMD PII 965 @ stock speeds even though AMD is 3.4GHz and i5 goes 3.2 with turbo..

You could also look at and maybe wait for the new nvidia gtx 470 pre-orders for the same kind of price

For OC'ing you could also look at other coolers like the h50 or the coolit on sale this week, I'd get a SSD if I had money to spare.. but I'd probably upgrade my GFX or CPU cooler before that..

For gaming I got a LG3000 37", text is still pretty clear for using as a monitor and it's nice and big for games, 1080p n doubles as a TV, just an idea, most go with monitors and say how TV's are low resolution etc.. but it's also 16:9, wider than the 16:10 monitors and I am well happy with it.. it's clear, bright, and hugeee for a monitor lol Also means slightly more FPS because you are working with 1920x1080 rather than 1920x1200

Forgot to mention, sound card over onboard can increase FPS aswell as sound quality, but less noticeable on more than dual core systems

Thanks for all the replies guys...

Well basically i've made a couple of conclusions, not all of the posts were following a guideline for this purchase how i'd of liked them too but none the less they were all very helpful !!

I was thinking of building a machine with this priority list

1) Futureproof (10/10 importance)
2) Destroys games (1000000000/10)
3) Reliable (10/10)
4) Price (5/10 - not a crazy price but i don't mind shelling out for something that will last..)

I chose the AMD choices as aparently the future AMD's will be on that socket saving me bundles and bundles on upgrading as a new mobo/ram/processor is a significant amount.

Will AMD's 6-cores be much worse than a now i7 930 OC ?
 
The 6 core AMD's will be the same as the Phenom II's now, just with 6 cores, will most likely be around same price as the lower i7's, the i7's use hyperthreading and so support up to 8 threads, the 6 core AMD's will support up to 6 threads, i7 also has triple channel ram whilst AMD has dual, and that won't change with the newer AMD's.. you should remember that the i5 750 will outperforms the PII 965 even though it is slower basically because intel handles it better.

Games generally don't support more than 4 cores and I'm thinking that by the time games support 6 cores or more that the AMD's will be outdated and even by AMD's newer chips.. If you did choose to get the i7, then you'd just have to wait for price to come down of the already released 6 core i7's.. 12 threads.

You can go AMD if you like, but you'll be spending more on something that will run games slightly slower, you won't notice much with the GPU, and I very much doubt you will see more than about 2% increase by getting the 6x after the 4x
