I went out and took a few shots this afternoon, here is one of my faves - any comments?

Other than resize and border its had no post processing done, but cleasrly needs the dust removing etc.

Nice. Got a top down shot at all? Can't see exif either with this latest Firefox update - was that with a prime lens?

Lovely shot - the black background works really well.

I grabbed one last weekend - 100% crop taken with the 24-70:

I had to add in some detail in the petals.

Love the contrasting colours on that, really must get a proper macro lens at some point.

Very good shot with excellent DOF, love the colours and background. I wonder if it may have looked better if the orange center was framed between 2 petals, rather than almost looking blocked by it?

Yeah totally agree. Looking at the finally picture can be so different to situation in real life, you have to image what it looks like 2D. On macro shots the background is often ignored, but yours is spot on i think.

The background is all natural thankfully and worked well largely due to the tiny DOF from macro shooting.

I always find the preview after shooting rather misleading, ive had some great shots on the 2" LCD that turn out rubbish, and some rubbish looking shots on the LCD which turn out great!
