Ages ago I picked up a tin that contained readymade croissant dough in triangles that you ripped open and the dough was wrapped around inside, precut and everything ready for rolling up and baking. They were lovely with a bit of butter and jam. Haven't seen them since, was I dreaming or what? I normally go to Asda or Morrisons. Anybody else seen them?

Pillsbury Croissants, available in the chiller cabinet in Tescos. I would guess you still get them in other supermarkets too.

Been smoking tonight?

Not at all. You?

The tin was like cardboard, with rips in it like toilet roll cores so when you twist it unrolls into diamond/triangle shapes. The ends were metal like normal tins. I think it was a continental thing.

I've seen them before!

Think Tesco do them!

Am I on invisible or just ignore? :p

EDIT: You are right Nem, Aldi do their own version thats about a third of the price of the Pillsbury ones.

Neither, but imagine if we had to personally reply to everyone that replied in our threads! :o Thanks anyway. Definitely wasn't the Pilsbury ones, could have been the Aldi ones. Will have to pop in for a mooch.

My mum used to get these all the time when we were younger, she'd let us make them as a treat and we'd eat them with jam and cream.

They actually tasted very good, its pretty much the same as buying pastry and making a pie from it.

My mum only ever used to shop in tesco so thats where its from.

I wish :(

Why not just make your own dough or indeed just buy some from a bakery: the notion of tinned croissants makes me feel erm, somewhat sad.

I wish I had your problems then. Thanks all, I will investigate the local Aldi as soon as is practicable. Wouldn't be seen dead in Tesco tbh.

Aldi is proper ***** but you wouldn't be seen dead in tescos?

Tescos is a step up.

Says you. That's why I don't go to Tesco.

Aldi is a discount supermarket, its like lidl or netto. I have no problem with any of those places but its quite funny you wouldn't be seen dead in Tescos which is clearly a step up, i.e. not bargain basement rubbish.

The fact that you class Tesco as 'a step up' as opposed to what is simply a cheaper alternative in the same market should give you a clue.
