Is it possible to crop an avi (i.e. remove borders) without re-encoding the video stream? I've had a go at using Virtual Dub, but haven't managed it. Is there something I'm missing? Can any other software do this?

Thanks!

It's probably possible, but you won't get the disk space used by the cropped area back unless you re-encode.

Various software can do it, I keep hearing good things about SONY Vegas, spensive tho.

Know of any free software that'll do this? Been playing with avidemux, but no success there either.
