Cropping Adobe After Effects

The timelines are called compostions so that's what you'd save them as, then if you wanted to export the movie to avi or whatever, then export is in the file drop down menu. As for cropping the image I'm pretty sure there is an effect that does it, probably be called, resize, crop, clip, mask or something along those lines, I'll find out the exact name and how to do it when I get home but just have a play around with that and I'm sure you'll be ok.

Right just got home and had a look, the way to do it, is to add a mask, do this by right clicking in the timeline area and selecting new > mask, the mask will then be added, then in the drop down for the new mask effect, there will be an option called mask shape, enter the pixel dimensions for the area you want to crop and click ok, that should do the trick, then just export the movie and the cropped parts won't show up. Hope that's what you asking for help on?
