Cropping an image to correct ratio?

Hey guys.

I am currently uploading some of my latest plane photos to jetphotos.net and some are being rejected due to disproportional crop ratio.

So, what I want to know is if there is a tool within photoshop (CS4) that allows me to crop to the same ratio as my original image? I know about holding shift to get a square crop but obviously this isnt good enough for what I require.

For example, this image was rejected for the reason stated. However I feel this particular crop really makes the plane look quite awesome?

I think the selection tool has an aspect ratio option, then you can put in 4:3, 3:2 etc.

Choose the rectangular marqee tool.
CTRL+A to select the whole image.
Then right click>Transform selection.
Then hold shift while dragging a corner handle.

Yeah it does. Just select the rectangular marqee tool. Then under "style" dropdown list, choose fixed ratio.

Or just use the crop tool, select the whole image, then hold shift while dragging a corner in.

most aviation sites only allow 3:2 and 4:3 aspect ratios and 1024x683 or better,they are allowances if its a picture of a major event or an old scan of a classic.BTW nice spot at Manchester

If you have Canons Digital Photo Professional installed it has a really easy to use Cropping tool built in with presets for different aspect ratios

Open a picture within the browser, click tools then Start Trimming/Angle Adjustment Tool.

You can then specify under Aspect Ratio what ratio you want. When you then draw the selection box on the picture it locks the box to that ratio.

Some of the presets are Free, 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 4:3, 3:4, 5:4, 4:5, A size Landscape, A size Portrait, Letter Landscape, Letter Portrait and Custom.

A very easy tool to use.
