Cross-brand PSU cables

Hi guys, got a friend's PC here that I'm trouble shooting, I'm thinking his PSU is faulty (an OCZ ModXstream). If I swap in my PSU can I use his modular cables? All mine a cable tied up in my cable management system. I assumed it'd be absolutely fine, but thought it would be worth checking.

I'm not sure. I know you can if it's the same PSU but not if it's different brands.

if they fit - why not? the cable is just a copper wire so the only reason why it wouldnt work is if the connectors are different (but i might be wrong :/ )

for instance, on my antec modular psu, all the cables were the same as pci-e 6-pins where as on some of those hiperX psu's they are like screw-in ariel cables

They certainly fit, so is the general consensus 'unsure'? I really don't want to have to cut through all my cable ties.

Just make sure that the cables have the same coloured wires on each pin and you should be OK.
