Cross fire @ x4?

Hi it the words of my manual "support for 2 way AMD CrossFire™ (running at x16, x4 bandwidth)"

is there any point running a second card at x4? i was looking for a cheap upgrade. and used card will be cheaper then a new card if i can get away with it

If it's PCI-E 2.0, depending on the card, there could be a decentish Bandwidth bottleneck, if it's 3.0, not so much.

i have asked this question before and iirc there might be a 5-10% reduction in performance using the second card in a 4x slot.

Probably not noticeable when gaming but if you bechmark etc you would want a better board to squeeze those extra points out of it.

Yes the difference on 3.0 is less than 5%, you shouldn't care about it at all.

Maybe it will be bigger with more bandwidth-demanding cards like 780 TI's or 7990's, but if you x-fire anything "Normal", you won't see it at all.
