On the Orange website, if i choose a contract, as an extra, there is an option for "+50 extra cross-net minutes on 3G". What does this mean, i thought 3G was for dataservices, but its the cross network bit that confuses me!

I't just a bonus set of voice minutes which are only available if you order a 3g phone and are in a 3g coverage area iirc.

Im looking at getting the k800i, which is a 3G phone, so technically i would be getting 50 extra voice minutes right? How would i differentiate from a 3G call to say, a normal call?

I'm on orange and I have the same problem as far as I can gather you just get extra minutes for purchasing a 3g phone, I think it's just an incentive, not sure if there are other conditions attached.

My actual talk plan is 300 minutes, but I also got 300 extra minutes, and 100 extra "3G" minutes on top of that.

Giving me a total of 700 per month.

However, when I call to check my allowance usage it says i have 300 minutes, and counts that down to 0, but after that, as far as i know, there is no way of knowing when I have used my other 400, so you need to be a little careful.

I've had my phone two months and both months have gone over 300 mintes, so the thing tells me I have 0 minutes remaining, but on every bill because it's not been over 700 mins I havent been charged... so you need to vaguely keep track of what you're using each month.

Any orange subscribers here know of a better way of doing this?

They're simply an added incentive to take a 3g phone, you don't have to be in 3g coverage to use them or anything like that, no other conditions attached. They are just standard additional cross-network minutes.

Peternem, unfortuanately the only other way to keep track of your minutes at the moment is to use the call timers on the phone, reset on your billing date. A new system that will pick up correct minutes allowances etc is on the horizon, but no ETA at present as to when it will be available.
