I am so sure I've read some of the books but I can't be 100%. That's what happened with the first series of Reacher, I was "guessing" what was going to happen and thought I can't be that clever and it turned out I had read the first book years earlier.

I think I read the first fifteen Alex Cross books, they started out really good but Patterson has a problem with escalation, in that each book has to be bigger and more explosive than the last and it got to the point that the stories were just ridiculous. If this is based on the early stuff it could be good, just keep him as a homicide detective and not some kind of super hero.
Binged it over weekend and it is better than the movies. Alex Cross is far more like the books and his friendship with John is very funny - there is a line near the end that is laugh out loud. I gave up on Patterson's books after a few so cannot say if the plot is based on later books, but it is all over the place - one of the reasons why I quit Patterson. Overall a fun if frustrating watch with decent characters and silly story.
First time watching anything to do with this character, if you enjoy Reacher you'll likely enjoy this, binged it over the weekend. Less fighting than Reacher but more thinking / working things out almost feels like watching Sherlock at times with how he can work things out of the blue.
Not a fan of Ryan Eggold usually but he did surprisingly well in this making you not like his character at all.

if this is better than the movies may have to give em a watch cause this show was comedy gold ! even though it was supposed to be a thriller. the acting is terrible for the most part but the pure cheese is unbelievable.watched the final ep this morning and its a good job i wasnt eating or drinking when the x gonna give it to ya song came on. cause i nearly choken with laughter even though it was a serious scene. also the show is portrayed as one of the most racist shows i ever seen. no reason to do it like this at all. proper woke show.

I haven't read the books, but would generally agree with this, as a Reacher fan, anyway!
It was enjoyable, the lack of action was a bit disappointing, but I have set my expectations accordingly for S2! I really liked the ex-cop, so glad he is back in S2, albeit he seemed to "get off" very lightly for his crimes at the end of S1 iirc.
Not sure if it will be as watchable as S1, as S2 has weekly releases. If I have the patience, might just wait till it's finished and binge it.
