Hi,

I am trying to make room so i can buy a cross trainer, it would have to be fairly compact, but i would like a decent one if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ally

Vision Fitness X1500 is quite a good cross trainer with small footprint.

I would recommend trying any bit of gym equipment out first though if it is a serious investment, the foot position/plates on cross trainers can be very differen't and can feel awkward until you find the right model.

agree with kefkef, you really need to try them.
some are nice and comfy, others seem to put my legs through and odd motion.

I got a fairly cheap Reebook one. Was about £150 I think. Its fine for what I need it for (quick 30 minute blasts at 5.30am before work at the moment :D). Cheap and cheerful but well built.

EDIT: Its this one: reebok rev 10101

oh thanks guys il check then out. any good suggestions for shops u can go try them in? iv mostly looked at em online. I use them at the gym but obviously they r huuuge.

Powerhouse Fitness was where i got mine from in Dewsbury, they've got a shop in Newcastle (2 Percy Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE1 7RZ ) but not sure how well stocked it would be.

It's a fairly large store - and for anyone trying to find it, it's opposite Barclays and Top Shop at the bottom of the Gallowgate.

Whatever you do, don't go to Powerhouse - make sure it's Powerhouse Fitness :D

Oh, and if you do buy from Powerhouse, don't pay the list price, if you get no joy in the shop, go home and ring them up and see about getting a better price (i actually rang the Nottingham store when i bought my last bit of gym kit and got it a good £150 cheaper than the dewsbury store were offering it to me!)

good advice guys thanks, budget wise hmm upto 300 i guess, i do go to a gym this is an idea for when iv worked late and cant be bothered ;)
also cold winter mornings when you dont want to venture out on days off :/

more important to me is the size, im getting a smaller desk so i can fit it in the room. thinking of wall mounting a tv in front of it hehe.

Re: powerhouse - lol don't worry I know the difference. I am not that way inclined...

hmm just had a look at that vision fitness, a little more than i wanna pay to be honest.
a lot of the more pricey units seems to hav the wheel at the front. what sort of features should i be looking for and what is just PR?

Thanks :)

Just had a browse of (not sure if I can say it?) Begins with A, 5 letters long, ends in S, the wholesaler.

Some reasonably nice looking bits of kit for under £300 there, and they look reasonably compact. How much room do you have? then you can work on dimension as opposed to guestimating!

still trying to determine that, my new desk comes on Monday once i shift the huge one out the way i can start to think about the size available, its probably gonna go were i have a 53cm x 53cm stand which holds the tv at the moment, obviously i know a cross trainer is going to be bigger than that but as close to that as poss would be good :)

well went into powerhouse fitness - they all look huge tho :( not sure id fit something that big in the room! the length is the main issue anything under 100cm?

this is a possibility of course, but im tryin my best to make room. just wondering what's the smallest but still decent that is available on the market?
