Crossbow owners in here.

some guy on theHunter makes em  quite a few bow people on there mainly usa peeps though. you should pop on. i chat reguarly with some who have hunted for 30-50 years with bow

I had one when I was 10 years old, but being 10 I was bit of an as_hole and was showing off and shot a bolt through the bathroom window, which hit and stuck in the bathroom door and just missed my mum.... No more crossbow............................ It was cool to have one though and I did get in to rifles, etc later on..

I have a Barnet or something one somewhere, could be in the wardrobe I think.

Basically incase some ***** wants to break into my house.

I'm no stranger to rifle safety though, I've been shooting many many times.

I used to shoot a steel bowed windlass cranked repro medieval one for demonstrations. It had a registered full draw weight of about 700lb and would penetrate mild steel armour comfortably from a couple of hundred yards if it caught a direct perpendicular hit. To be honest it scared the **** out of me and I much preferred by yew longbow.

What sort of target will you be shooting , what is the draw weight on the bow and what range will you be shooting at ?

I have an Armex Titan with a 4x32 scope. It has a 200lb draw and produces ~120ftlbs energy with my 460grain 20" arrows/bolts/quarrels/whatever you want to call them (actual power measured over my chrono, not factory figures :))

I hope you've got a large, safe place to use one. You'll need a decent backstop too. I use an old dishwasher cabinet with layer after layer after layer of carpet in it. At 50 yards, the arrows will happily punch 6-7 inches into the layers of carpet. Groupings are within a couple of inches.

Fun AND deadly, what else do you need to know?

You had a crossbow at that age? I wasn't even allowed a BB gun because I shot my cousin in the face. Accidentally, of course.

Joining an archery club is something I've been really interested in doing lately, if there is one local to me.
