Hi,

I've got 2 6950s (modded to 6970) and recently installed the beta 13.8 driver. I noticed when I got in from work today the fans sounded really loud on the PC, checked it and one GPU is at 99% activity and the fan at 50% (checked in CCC).

Used the catalyst uninstall app thinking it was the driver and put back on the 13.4 driver when I rebooted. Started ok then after a couple of mins crept up to full activity again, this is when just on the desktop with nothing running.

Can anyone help? dont want to kill my PC :(

Have you tried to run an anti virus scan?

You may have been infected with a Bitcon mining virus or something similar.

just trying that at the moment, updating and scanning. thanks mate :)

Have a look in the processes tab to see if anything odd is running, do the same with the list of start up programs.

Sometimes these types of viruses can be difficult for some antivirus software to detect as many people run Bitcon mining software themselves and so the antivirus programs don't always categorise that type of software as a malicious program.

Eset Nod32 is the best Anti Virus ever created. I get virus attacks everyday and not 1 virus ever in the years of use:D

I liked NOD too and even had a re-seller account at one point. I dropped them when they jacked the fees up though and decided to try others. Must admit it was the fastest scanning AV which was great when checking additional drives.

You using driver 13.8 beta2? Also gpu-z and over clocking with over drive?

Because if so it could be driver issue as amd say in the release notes.

went from 13.8 beta back down to 13.4 as I thought that may be the issue. still getting it though.

had a look for the bitcoin problem and cant find anything, ran combofix already and malwarebytes is showing nothing. baffled

nothing I try sorts this :(

cleaned out the drivers and put older ones on (13.1) but it still creeps up. Combofix seems to sort it out momentarily but then eventually it jumps back up.

if I disable crossfire the single GPU seems fine in CCC. scratching my head for any ideas now, I've no idea what is causing it. can anyone suggest anything I can perhaps try?

thanks :)
