Crossfire 2 diffent brands?

I have the MSI 6950 and the XFX 6950 is on offer real cheap, would both of these work in crossfire or does it need to be the same brand?
 
You can xfire together any different brands fine within the same series of card not just 2 6950s but you could use a 6970 or a 6990 so go buy your card and enjoy.
 
As long as they are both the 2Gb ones though? (I think)

Guessing its ok to mix ref1 and ref 2 cards then?

Just dont flash the ref2 one :)
