Why are these things (for me at least) never easy!!!
OK, so I ordered a 2nd Asus 5870 expecting it to be identical to the previous one I bought not 2 months back. If only were life we so easy of course, it seems Asus have 'improved' the OEM design and have now changed the power connections so I am 100% confusued. It seems they have added an extra 2 pins on one of the connectors, see below:
Do I still need to connect 2 PCIe cables, or do I now conect only 1 to the extra cable with the card, that seems to be a 2 into 1, ie 2 PCIe power connectors into the 1 8 pin connector.
Not only has my Mobo gone **** up in this process (new one arrives tomorrow) but now I have no idea how you plug these in. All help appreciated, next time I will get this built for me as I have wasted far to much time messing about with stuff I have no interest in other than using the bloody thing!!
Housey,
