crossfire 4870 or (single) gtx280??

Ok once someone works out what the lanes run at ect. Does two lots of 8x speed when crossfiring 4870's still beat a gtx280? at x16

Well you cant do XFIRE on your mobo as it is an Nvidia chipset, so unless you get a XFIRE mobo your only option is to go with the 280 which are currently dropping real fast in price, so shop around.

I'm sure your P5?? will not run its PCI-E lanes at X16 each, this will cost you a lot of performance when doing XFIRE so its not worth doing unless you purchase an x38/48 MOBO.

Seriously, i play on a 4850 and at 1920 with 8xaa and I still get well over 60fps on TF2. Crysis is a whole different ball game though, but if you play good games you should be ok ;)

Review showing 8x8x vs 16x16x configurations of 4850/70 series cards :)

Theres a bit of difference and with higher rez or AA/AF used even more difference, this is exactly the reason why I feel P45 chipset mobos are useless unless u plan to overclock crazy, not like X38 boards arent cheaper and more stable bioses and faster and still overclock nicely and well anyhow.

Did you actually read the link you posted to?!

Sorry, that article has been absolutely and thoroughly debunked.

My contacts at AMD and I had a good laugh at it though. Thanks for posting it up, it brought a small to my face.

Quite humerous I thought.

I am curious however as to why more review sites havn't reviewed CF over 8x vs 16x as it would be quite useful (the tweaktown review is useless as they test one board against another, to do a proper test they should have used more than one board with the particular chipset to avoid issues with the particular board).

For the record I am running CF HD4850 on a Asus P5Q-Pro (P45) and it is fantastic!
