Howdo,

I'm going to be going crossfire at some point with my current 5830, but unsure about the power cabling. I have a 650w Corsair PSU, which will be fine for it seeing as the Sapphires pull under 500w load in crossfire.

Thing is, the PSU only has two 6+2 pin power connectors, I will need 4 6 pin power connectors.

If I get two of these, I will need to use up 4 molex plugs to add the two additional 6 pin connectors. I will then be using these to go with it and make it look pretty.

Could I get away with getting some adapters that just use 1 molex, and having the cards powered by 1 of the PSUs 6 pin connectors, and 1 single molex to 6 pin connector, with the braided extenders on each?

Cheers!

As I said, I have a 650w Corsair PSU, and CF 5830s require 500w.

Is that skimping really? I think not.

I think I have at least 2 molex cables, need to keep my fans connected too somewhere...

Do you reckon I could use the 2 4pin molex to 6pin adapters connected in series to one cable each without any trouble?

Cheers!

I'm guessing connect them to the molex plugs closest to the psu, then the fans after that? Any idea what kind of wattage a fan will pull at full bore?

Decided to just not bother now. Could have had another 5830 today for £130 (would have had to pay an extra £9 for postage though).

Might well do though in a few months time, we'll see. Thanks for the advice, at least I know now how I'll wire it up. :P
