Crossfire 6870 or 6950

So as the title says, I have one 6870 1GB card, I could get another and crossfire it to get 2GB. Or I could upgrade and buy 1 6950 with 2GB already there.

Anyone know what would be best?

well getting another 6870 wouldnt give you 2gb of vram as vram doesnt stack but it would give you more gpu power, and would overall be faster than a single 6950 unless vram is the limiting factor on whatever your playing.

Am trying to run BF3 on ultra and it wont do it with 1GB of Vram. So am looking for a upgrade from 1GB from the 6870. I was checking out the 7850's too and they might be better than a 6950?

7850 is roughly on par with a 6950, but when overclocked it has a decent lead on it.

yeah i wouldnt bother with 2 6870s then as bf3 will still be vram limited. yeah id go with the 7850 as about the same price as 6950 and a tad faster

Thank you very muchy! I shall be selling my old 6870 and looking into a 7850.
