Im considering doing a crossfire set up of two

Sapphire TOXIC 2GB 6950 gfx cards....

I've heard of two issues relating to crossfire, one that there is constant micro stuttering in DX10 & 11 games ( however it seems people tend to have issues with cards older than 6950 )

Also that two cards in crossfire were in fact outputting less fps than a single card, would this be down to ....not enough power ? firmware ? or is it something else

If anyone has a similar setup I would love to hear your experiences
Thanks

I had 6950 CF and I can tell it's a very great setup, especially being able to beat 580 SLI by surprise in certain games.

I didn't notice much micro stutter issues - most games runs at framerates higher than 60 fps so it's not possible to feel.

In certain games (usually new games) CrossfireX is not fully supported and you may occassionally get abnormal framerates (lower than a single card) but usually if you wait for the latest CAP to install you should be fine.

The only thing you'll need to worry about is the heat and cooling - if you don't have a reasonable PCI-E spacing on your motherboard then prepare to suffer from noise.. (Edit: just noticed that the cards you mentioned is indeed OTES so no need to worry about PCI-E spacing)

I've ordered these last night, I have a lian li a05 so the 2nd card will be right at the top of the case(have a grill in the top of he case so hopefully no cooling issues with thee top card) hope there isn't airflow issues over all.

will be able to let you know in a couple of weeks how I get on once I get the card and have them installed, I have a u2711 so might not be the same fps as you depending on the res you play at oh and I have a q6600 @ 3ghz which will also effect the fps compared to those with i920/i2500k etc.
