Crossfire bridge worries

I recently got delivered to me two OCUK 3870xts, but they don't have any crossfire ribbon connectors which worries me slightly. Do the Gigabyte boards have crossfire bridges with them or am i screwed? (board comes soon, for the meanwhile im using one of them atm) If so, anyone know where i can get them?

i would have thought you should have got 1 with each card,
I can tell you for sure that sapphire sure do.

But sorry to say i dont know about Gigabyte.

Don't know about your board, but my Abit IN9 came with SLi connectors, so I would imagine yours will arrive with Crossfire bridges included. You could maybe look their site for info?

i have never had a mobo turn up with crossfire connectors :(

always the graphics cards.

i think your best bet will be to send a web note the shop and see what they say matey

already have done, just hope i can get one because I had a look around the internet, and the only place i can find them to buy seperately is in America!

Right, will do. The descriptions can be a bit misleading, I know it's a copy paste jobbie but it also says you get a bundled copy of Call of Juarez which, although I'm not too bothered about, smacks of inaccurate advertising

To clarify, the cards should indeed come with a bridge each. I have had three HIS 3870s and all three have come with bridges. The motherboards do not come with any CrossFire hardware other than the two physical slots.

And yes, the Call of Juarez thing is dodgy - not that I want it, because I already have it, but none of my cards came with the game.

You will need 2 crossfire cables.

I had to web note the guys about coj, but they sent me graw2 as well so cant complain. :D

Could be worse, i have been waiting on 1 etailer (not here) to send me out my nozzle kit for my water block since before xmas!!!! thats shocking!!

ouch 2 of em? Doesn't it work with one? Well, been having a look around, Triplex says the crossfire cable is included (in the spiel about crossfirex it talks about the 'internal crossfire bridge (included)'. However, i just checked a forum on a bloke who bought the same card from somewhere else and that didn't come with a crossfirex connector. oh ****

I got the OCUK ones, they came branded as Triplex cards. What are the OCUK ones usually branded as?

The actual brand of cards that you get varies dependant on the best deal OcUK are able to get from time to time. So in three months time it could be a different brand alltogether.

Hmm... I am only using 1 cable between my two cards, and its working fine in crossfire. In fact when I fitted both it would not detect a crossfire setup in the CCC?

I thought that even though there is two connections per card, it allows you to have a link up and down for a 3 or more crossfire-x setup. If you "only" have two cards, then only one bridge cable is required.

Its strange how there is very little info on actually crossfire-x fitting/setup guides around.

props to OCUK on this one, they apologised and am sending me two Crossfirex connectors. I'll try both 1 and 2 connectors, see hwat happens. I wonder why some need 1 and some need 2?

I think you only need one connector now anyway, i will dig something up ive read but im sure its something to do with new drivers

edit - Yeah its been added since 8.1

AMD modified the drivers since 8.1 to only require one bridge instead of two for a crossfire setup

I was told to use both bridges by OC tech guy when I was having probs with my 3870 cards.
It turned out that both cards were stuffed.
I got a rma and they replaced both cards and I am still running with 2 bridges and have had no probs.

i also got told by a tech guy at ocuk to use 2 and have used 2 for about a week now and have a few problems in game like freezing on CoH and COD4 but maybe down to overclocking my cards too much lol ,i tested the overclock and it passed and it was the same day i put an extra bridge on:confused: but wish i knew for certain if it should be one or two, i take one out when i get home and try with just one
