Hi all,

I am having some issues with my PC, I am getting the bsod when playing games. It only happens after about 20 mins of playing, after about 15 mins the second card in the crossfire stop's if I alt tab out and go back into the game it works for a further 5 mins or so then I get the bsod.

I have tried removing the drivers and reinstalling them, I have made sure to do a clean install of the drivers.

I removed the oc from the cards.

I have turned off ulps in the registry, I think I got all of the instances.

I tested each card on its own in its respective slots on the motherboard and no bsod tested by running benchmarks and games for over an hour. So I don't think it is a hardware problem but can't be 100%

I think this is more recent because it was working for long enough to do benchmarks and play via my steam link.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can try next?

System spec,
Mobo, gigabyte ga-z97x g1 black edition
CPU, i7 4790k oc to 4.7 at1.296v
Ram, corsair vengeance 1600, 16gb
PSU, evga supernova p2 1200w
GPU1, sapphire tri-x r9290x
GPU2, gigabyte r9 290x
Cooling, custom water loop, temperature max on all processors 56C ( fans ramp to maintain this temp)

Any help would be great

Thanks
Matt

Hi thanks for your reply yes 56 maxed out, the PSU is about 2 weeks old and I don't think it is the PSU, the voltage seems stable under load but I will have a look at it. I am thinking about doing a fresh install of windows 10. I think it might be software not hardware but I want to test it as much as I can to make sure.

I would be half tempted to try another PSU or even try youre one in another system that has dual cards. it very well could be a bad PSU

OK, I have a corsair ax860 which might be just enough to power it ( it did before I upgraded to the evga) I will give it a go.

I have as far as I can tell yes. I found an extra sata power connector on the motherboard that the manual says is for multi GPU configurations so I have connected it. I tested it with my other PSU running the motherboard and GPUs and the same fault ( this was before connecting the extra sata power) I have played about an hour of grid autosport and it was fine on the original PSU with the extra power. It seems worse in rise of the tomb raider. Maybe it is the game that is the problem, I have tried verifying the game files with steam and it says there are no problems.

any overclock running on your cards?

I have mines overclocked and it plays all of my games sweet bar Mad Max if I try to play that I need to drop my overclock or it will crash 15 to 20 minutes into the game. Ive not had a BSOD just the display driver has stopped working error.
