Crossfire Concern!

Hey guys,

I am currently using an Antec 300, now, I have decided I am going to get a 6950 2gb card, however, I am worried that my system might overheat. The reason I say this is I have a soundcard at the bottom of my board (PCI slot) and the crossfire 6950's will be directly above this in the PCE-E slots. Now, the soundcard runs pretty hot, it is the xonar D2 7.1, I can't say how hot it runs, but I was very suprised to say the least. I guess I just didn't realize these cards got remotely hot. My problem is that I think my soundcard heat will affect the crossfire 6950's as they will literally be ontop of each other, which raises my next concern, that the second GPU fans will be blocked.

All in all, this started to make me think if I should run with a 6870 card as I think they run at a better temp. Are my concerns valid, or am I just making problems that don't exisit. Also, if there is a problem, how would I go about rectifying it?

Cheers,

Steve.

The main point is try not to block the fan of each graphics card. I had 5870 CrossfireX in Antec 300, with a wireless card in the bottom. Because there was good distance between the two graphics cards, and the wireless card didn't block the fan of the lower 5870 (though the wireless card was right next to the lower 5870), both 5870 ran very cool and quiet.
