crossfire corruption

Hi there, guys, a friend of mine is having a bit of a problem with his setup
he has a rdx200 board with a 580w modular hiper psu, hes running a pair of
x1950pros in crossfire and is getting corruption as indicated below on half of the screen, if he runs them indiviually they
work perfectly but in crossfire hes getting the corruption on screen, hes tried each card on its own and they work fine.

Everything is at stock (i.e not overclocked), think the board is fine as he has been using 2 x x850's or similar in crossifre

im thinking its a power problem?

hes done the usual, likenew drivers, reinstall of windows, tried switching the graphics cards around, both ribbons connected

i didnt clarify if hes tried other games 3dmark etc but i assume he has..

what do you guys reckon?

I aint an expert or anything, but looks like one of the cards are borked. Dont they need 2x PCI-E X16 and does that mobo provide 2x PCI-E X16?

even though they work individually fine, you reckon one is borked
that board does provide 2 x 16x pci-e slots, although they work in a 16 x 4 config

One card is going funny some how. as its pretty obvious as the card rendering the top is fine but the bottom is corrupted. Have you checked with cpuz to see what the pci-e slots are running at.

The old Rd480 (or is it 450) chipset runs both lanes at 8x, i thought they would need the newer Rd580 as they do both 16x, but 2x x1950pro's in crossfire do work on that board from reading the DFi forums, so don't knw whast up there, it does look like 1x card though judging by the split screen.

ok everything works fine at 800x600

but the corruption only occurs a 1024x768 and above

hes using a sony lcd tv

If he changes the cards around ,does it change it so that the top half of the screen then gets the corruption ???

Have you tried another ribbon cable?
