My friend gave me a Radeon HD5770 in exchange for the GTX 460 I gave him.

I have a Radeon HD7870 at the moment.

Can I hook up his 5770 to my 7870 in CrossfireX for some form of moderate performance gain?

The AMD Compatability chart suggests that this cannot be done, but I was wondering if anyone has tried it and had any success.
 
Curses. Hardly worth the effort of opening the case and doing any rewiring then.
