Replaced my Asus / Saphire 5870 X-fire with 2 HIS 7950's this afternoon. I benched the 5870's on Heaven before I pulled them out and did the same with the new cards out of the box and then with a 5 minute overclock.
Running 12.2 pre certs.
5870s - standard clocks 68.7 FPS - 1731
7950s - standard clocks 110.7 FPS - 2787
7950s - 950 / 1500 15% voltage through CCC 124.7 FPS - 3142
In the real world BF3 and Crysis 2 with the texture pack run on ultra / extreme without the cards really breaking sweat - although I am only at 1920 x 1080 until I can afford a better monitor / more monitors. Skyrim on ultra with the texture pack has caused some problems which I am gonna put down to drivers at the moment (it ran like a dog for me on the 12.2 drivers using the 5870's)
Thought I would share that with you.
The only thing I have noticed is that the second card doesn't report temps to either CCC or Afterburner - is that normal? (it did on my 5870's - I think
) And now I have to change my sig
