IS there many games that use crossfire? trying to decide between getting a mobo that supports crossfire but only takes ddr2, or one that can take both ddr2 & ddr3 but with one graphics slot?

Most games support crossfire, i don't think its really all that worth it though.
I had a pair of x1950 xtx's up until recently.

Just buy a better card, although the AMD HD38xx cards scale really well. But noise and heat be come issues when you've got 2 graphics cards.

I bought my current mobo cos of the x38 and future compatability of it. I would not go ddr3 just yet.

Yeah ok i have just found that there are plenty of mobo's that are crossfire & also take ddr2 & ddr3 ram, & also the new 45nm chips, but thanks for the advise :)

Hey rippling your gigabyte ds4 x38 mobo, its got 4 slots for ram, can u fit ddr2 in all 4 slots, & also ddr3, or is it 2 slots for each ?

I went about knocking up both a SLI Setup and also a Crossfire too... I never went high end I might add, but I did it purely for a laugh, and I can honestly say that while I am so glad I did it, and I had a great time ( and I still have them both... given it to my 9 year old son and 10 year old daughter ) I will say that unless you are going to spend hundreds on each card... DONT BOTHER!

I like it that the inside of the PCs look mean but to be honest, I would have saved a few quid by just getting a single better card than 2 cheaper ones

But, as I said, Im glad I did it and I will do it again.... But not for the speed, just the fun only.
