has anyone tried or knows if crossfiring a 5850 with a 6950 would work?

i know past series couldn't. but i'm wondering if the 6000 series allows it has not much has been changed..
 
I am sure there was some motherboards going to be released which had some chip on it that meant you can xfire/sli two different cards. Can't remember the name of them now, sure someone here will know.

Lucid Hydra.
Basically, un-named Multi GPU rendering (Can only use single GPU cards, no dual cards such as the 4870x2 etc). But the scaling is pretty bad, and I'm sick of people saying it's Xfire/SLI, because it's not.
