Crossfire on DS4

the second physical PCI-E slot is actually a PCI-E 4x slot, so since X Fire/SLI requires two 8x or two 16x, I doubt its possible.
 
Apparenty it has been done.
I really haven't had the time to read up about it (I'm not interested in Crossfire, SLI or any multi-card solution as I'm convinced the future is multi GPU per card (like with CPU's)).

If you read through the forums over at futuremark.com there are a few threads on this very issue.
 
really? hmm, it'd be interesting to see how effective it relaly is. I reckon it'd be worse than a single card solution, as wouldn't you (to enusre an even load between cards) have to run the PCI-E x16 slot as a x4 slot?
 
This is something I'm looking into, as my 955X based board has a 16x slot and a 4x slot.

I've done some preliminary testing a the same X1900GT performs around 10% worse in the 4x slot.....

However, Xfire is a different ball game than just pumping out frames from a single card solution, so I'm doing a little research.
