crossfire or not?

quick one, ive got an x850xt pe 256mb now and have just bought a abit AT8 32x to replace my dodgy asrock mobo

i was wondering whether to get an x850 crossfire ed and run the 2 together or sell mine and buy 1 minter card, what u reckon?

isn't AT8 x32 a dual x16 channel SLI board, if so you can't run crossfire on SLI boards

Nope - the AT8 32x is ABit's new motherboard based on the 3200 chipset (link)

I'd also go for a faster card - the X1800XTs go for £210 (256MB) or £240 (512MB) now which is great value for money. A master X850 card will be hard to find and cost quite a bit of money - even a standard X850XT still fetches £150 new.

You should get about £110-£120 for your X850XTPE. I'd personally put that and £100 to the X1800XT over buying a master card

You'll get a current gen card then with extra features and no limitations (X850 crossfire is limited to 1600x1200 @ 60Hz)

Agreed, having 2x old tech cards is not a wise move.

Go for one faster SM3.0/HDR capable card and enjoy

Is 60hz the max for all resolutions? or will you get 75hz at 1280x1024?

Yes as said above, pointless going Crossfire on the x8 series of cards as their max resolution is 1600x1200, and they are stuck at 60hz, go for the one card like the x1800 XT etc... as they dont have the limitations, and will be much faster, plus you can add another further down the line for even greater performance.

IIRC 60Hz is the max for all resolutions but I'm not completely sure
