Hi everyone, just a quick question!

I currently have a Sapphire HD 7970 GHz Vapor-X Edition and am wondering if I can pair this with a Asus HD 7970 Matrix Platinum graphics card or do I need to keep it the same?

I just see they are on offer here at a fantastic price and way cheaper than the Vapor-X at the moment!
I would have bought the Matrix at the time but they were out of stock everywhere :(

Just an idea since my birthday is coming up in December :p

Thanks :)

You can pair any 7970 with any 7970 :) In fact... I think you can pair 7970's with 7950's, 7870 Tahiti LE's, R280X's and 7990's as well. :)

Ooooh fantastic!
Would it be recommended to keep to the same or does it really not matter?
Thanks for the quick response :D

Well having a 7970 and a 7990 is similar to 7970 tri-crossfire, having a 7970 and a 280X is the same as having two 7970's as the 280X is a rebranded 7970, pairing a 7970 with a 7950 (where the 7970 is the top card) will offer somewhere between 7970 crossfire and 7950 crossfire performance, and i'm not sure about the performance of pairing with a 7870 Tahiti LE.

I'd do some Googlemaloogling and see what you find out :)

If you're done here for now can I hijack your thread Stu as I've got a couple of similar questions? :)

I'm thinking of doing the same as Stu but am looking to pair a 6950 bios unlocked and vram overclocked to 6970 speeds.

Would pairing it with a 6970 give better results than with a 6950 or would the difference be negligible?

Edit: I suppose what I really want to know is do two 6950 in crossfire give better performance than a single 7970?
