Currently i have an i3 530 on a Gigabyte H55M UD2H board and i had intended on adding another 5770 to my set up. The other week though i was looking through an article that said that this board would cut down the second lane to x4 performance making the crossfire upgrade pretty pointless.

So i wondered if anyone could advise me which board would allow me to use crossfire without worrying about bottlenecking.

Thanks in advance.

I believe its the UD4 where they start becoming symmetrical, check gigabytes website, though by the time youve sold your UD2, bought a UD4 and another 5770, you may as well sell 5770 and get new gfx card, imo

I'm currently gaming at 1920 x 1080 and in certain games i would like something extra, especially with medal of honor and the new cod game coming out.

Most noticeably though stalker cop can suffer on occasion at high settings (without dx11).

It did cross my mind to just sell it and buy a single better card but i wasnt sure if i would get much for my 5770.

Hi Sindri,

So you got this board right . . . and you was gonna add in another HD 5770 for some crossfire goodness . . . As you have already stated that would be PCI-E 2.0 x16/x4 Crossfire which I'm not sure is ideal? . . . when you bought that mobo did you think it was actually able to run full CrossFire based on the fact it features two "physical" PCI-E x16/x16 slots? . . . if so a lot of folk make that mistake . . .

Given the choice between buying a new MultiGPU mobo and a second HD 5770 and having to remove the old mobo and installing the new one *VS* buying a new powerful single GPU (ala GTX 460) and selling the HD 5770 I think its an easy choice? . . .

You should get a good price for the used HD 5770 if its fully working, nice and clean and comes with the original box + bits!

To be honest i didn't look into the crossfire capabilities initially - as i had intended to stick with the 5770 for a while.

I guess i will sell it and then just go for a single gpu, i might go for something with a bit more longevity than the 460 though as the performance increase isn't 'that' big in my opinion regarding the games i play.
