Hi,
I setup crossfire hd 5770's in my rig recently, but have had nothing but trouble since.
With crossfire enabled I get freezes then reboots, no BSOD just a reboot.
Both cards work independantly in both PCIe slots on my mobo
Drivers and bios's are all updated
I have since dropped the clocks on my cpu which did offer more stability, but these freezes/reboots still occur, mostly in graphically demanding games such as Alan Wake and BF3.
On the other hand Dead Space 2 can run for hours with crossfire enabled and zero problems, same with Sniper Elite V2, black ops even!
I have also setup two PSU's in my rig and the effects were minimal, so I dont believe my CX500( 6 months old ) is the weak link. ( I do realise that my psu is below ideal wattage, but others have, and do run this setup with 500w psu)
I am currently running a second 160w PSU with my fan controller(7 120mm fans) and case led's connected.
After a freeze/reboot looking into Event Viewer the corresponding error is this...
AMD Northbridge
Machine Check Exception
HyperTransport Watchdog Timeout Error
Processor ID:0
The info relating to the above error seems to be a case of hardware not responding to NB in quick enough time.
I have searched the web for similar errors but none of the info I can find relates to gaming with crossfire.
Does anybody here have any clue if I should be looking at altering my NB options in bios or is this a crossfire specific problem?
Thanks for looking.
