Hi all, could someone please tell me what the "Crossfire Edition card required" means on oc's site. Does it mean you need it to run in Sli mode or something. Will it run on it's own as a single card. Very confused with all this it used to be so simple. :( Zephyr

crossfire is ATIs version of SLI. In the current x1900 series of cards the Crossfire card has an additional chip on which combines the image generated by the 2 card s and outputs it to the monitor. The Crossfired card is a 1900 XT without the AVIVO stuff and only a single DVI out. It can be used on its own as standalone card And then with the right motherboard and an additional non master X1900 a crossfire setup.

Theres two versions of the X1800/X1900 series, the normal version and the Mastercard version.

If you're just running one card, you can use the normal card (or a master card if you so desired).

If you want to run a Crossfire setup with two cards, you need a normal card and a master card.

If a card says "Crossfire Edition card required" then it means you need a master card so that you can run it in Crossfire, got nothing to do with SLi as thats Nvidia cards, Crossfire is ATi's, so you would need a Crossfire motherboard as well. :)

Yes all cards wether masters or not will work as single cards. :)
