If you get a master card for a crossfire series GFX card, is the performance 2x greater? Or 4x? Or maybe not that noticable?

Or is the improvement only noticeable at higher resolutions?

More noticable it higher resolutions, but never close to 2x the performance. It's far better to go for the best single card solution you can afford, then add anotehr card later, than it is to buy two cheaper cards and crossfire or SLI them.

Yea thats what I was thinking. Get an X1800XT 512MB possibly on a crossfire mobo to start with, then if i wanted to, upgrade to the master card edition and watch it eat its way through any GFX application.

Won't that "AMD XP 2000+" you have be less than powerfull for the job??

Err...No....as he obviously isn't going to be using a socket A processor with a PCI Express based motherboard :p

x1800's have already been phased out, they were stopped when the x1900's came out, the x1800's that are still available are just the last stocks, once they are gone thats it. :)
