Iv got a 290x lightning that, im happy with, It was never my plan to crossfire it, and wanted a single card solution, so buying a fat card like this was not much of a concern, However that itch to do something now iv had a little more pay since, gives me thoughts of crossfire.
2 lightnings would fit, but they would be almost touching, and i guess this is not going to be good for cooling. However like previous generation, can you still mix and match cards ? Was thinking something like a gigabyte above, and i would have the normal space in between then if the lightning was on the lower PCI slot, thus not be an issue, cause all the size is obviously the bottom of the card. Would the gigabyte 290x be the best solution, How well or what card for temps would sute this slot above the lightning, Also I guess there is no issue with ram since they are all i think 4gb, however would clock speeds have to be the same ? and i guess i would need something like a 1200 watt or so PSU perhaps slightly less ?
Maybe a watercooled solution version, though iv never gone down that road before, so dont really know what else would be involved.

Thanks Guys , the lightning can go on the bottom, so there would be the normal distance gap between the two slots, as the lightning is the issue, but of course all the cooler is underneath the card itself so, as long as it is the bottom card it wont make a difference to the gap.
I also keep the case open so the fins would i guess just push air into the room.
So the power supply would not be an issue, there are plenty to choose from, Just what card would be best.
The budget after PSU would be about £500-600, Maybe then a standard card, which i can get a waterblock for, but i dont know what else i would need going down that road.
I guess some of the cooling equipment i could use in future, on following generations of cards, and would actually save me some money long term as i can buy cheaper reference cards
