im thinking of going crossfire for my eyefinity setup... i have a 6950 2gb and it runs wonders for most games but id like that extra ooomph.

i have a couple of questions though...

1. ill purchase another 6950 card.. but is it ok to be different manufacturer?
2. My current card is 2gb, do i need to purchase another 2gb or will 1gb improve the performance enough?
3. Will a different brand and 1gb cause any performance issues.

lastly... wtf is micro-stuttering??

1. Any manufacturer is fine.

2. VRAM in Crossfire isn't added together as data is duplicated across the cards. If you Crossfire 2x2GB cards you effectively have 2GB of VRAM. If you Crossfire a 1GB card with a 2GB card you "lose" 1GB so only have effectively 1GB. In short you need another 2GB card.

3a. A different brand shouldn't cause any performance issues.

3b. A 1GB card will cause issues, see answer 2 above.

I'm at work at the momemt so can't access my links which will explain micro-stuttering.

If no one has answered the question I'll post something later.

1. different manufactures are fine
2. if you add a 1GB card then your 2GB card will run @ 1GB. if your going eyefinity you will need the VRAM so 2GB would be better.
3. see above.

Micro-Stuttering is basically a frame delay caused by mutli GPU's rendering frames at different speeds on the screen. you hardly notice it these days unless you have a very low frame rate.
