Have a second 5850 coming tomorrow, having never crossfired before, is it just a case of plugging in the second 5850, and putting a crossfire bridge between them? Do i need to alter anything in my bios or catalyst panel etc?

That's it. It's sensible to uninstall and reinstall drivers at the same time too (10.9 seem to be very good) as otherwise the driver can fail to load. Once done check that Crossfire is enabled in CCC (should be by default). If your running MSI Afterburner, it's also a good idea to uninstall and reinstall that.

Once done load up MSI Afterburner for monitoring and Furmark Multi GPU Test (separate shortcut from the normal test but in the same install folder) and ensure both cards are being used. Note, apart from Furmark windowed programs will not use crossfire (only fullscreen).

oh and dont forget to plug in the extra power connectors as well as the crossfire bridges ;)

Yea, mine did that first time i installed them too, worked after a reboot but I have installed many driver versions since. I dont get BSOD any more but do get occasional WSOD or GSOD, thanks ATI .
