I'm currently using a 6800 GT 128mb on AGP and i can run most things fine at 1280x1024/1024x768 and i cant see my self going high then them 2 resolutions.

So what im wondering is if i'd notice any more benefit from 2 cards then with 1?

I'm looking at getting a x1900 xt and OC'ing it to xtx speeds.

Thanks

If you're not going higher than 1280x960 then Crossfire or SLI would be a total waste.

An X1800XT 256MB would be perfect for your needs, I used to have one and it ran everything I threw at it maxed in 1280x960 (even the Oblivion killer app.) :)

You've answered your own question. :)

Very little point upgrading at the moment - wait for the new operating system, DX, gaming engines, etc. to show up before splurging on what would have to be a completely brand new system.

Yeah i've been thinking about waiting on the purchase of a new graphics card till some DX10 cards come out, but there isnt much information about them and the potential for problems is quite high with the upgrade from DX9 to 10.

So the question really is, would it be worth getting a DX9 or early DX10 card?

Unless you're planning your upgrade purely with DirectX 10 in mind, there's not really much point in waiting. People seem to think that G80 and R600 will be God's gift to gaming because they support DirectX 10 and will give incredible leaps in performance with DirectX 9, but as always it's hype and they will probably just have the same performance increase as always when new cards are released.

Dont believe the Hype, DX10 wont be doing anything much for a year or so untill after its released, which probably 6 months of still. Get a good card like the X1800XT or X1900XT & they will last untill you really do need them DX10 cards & when there are games thay can be used on

Thanks guys for the information.

I've pretty much decided on feedback to get a x1900xt.

I have the same feeling about DX10 cards as you ACESHIGH but i just needed some information from more experianced people like your selfs.

Thanks
