Crossfire terrible noise problem

I decided to go Crossfire and today popped into Oclockers and bought the Connect 3D Crossfire Edition to go with my HIS excalibur x1900xt-x. I have enabled Crossfire in Catalyst control centre. As soon as I start a 3d application such as 3dmark06 I get a terrible high pitched noise from the pc speaker and have to turn of the application.
If I disable crossfire and run 3dmark I get no noise. Any ideas much appreciated.

Ill check them, but isnt it all or nothing, ie if the power connections are poor it wont work at all?

I don't know about crossfire, but my SLI works without the extra power - I just get a warning that it's not connected.

Also check your mobo, it might need an extra power connection ('tis called an E-Z connector on the Asus boards and it's down near the PCI-E slots).

well, more problems...I took out the crossfire card and put the HIS card back in the original pcie slot, now the pc wont boot past the A8R32-MVP splash screen

do you have any diagnostic lights on your mainboard?
is it detecting your ram, cpu, disks?
if it does can you boot a live cd ie knoppix? knoppix is a linix bootable distro

edit:
but it does with the other card...? the faulty card seated coreect cos thers a picture but is the fan working? heatsink still seated correctly?
