I've had a reply to a post indicating that they beleive dual GFX is not worth the money and i might be better off with a single 8800GTX 16x than 2 x X1950XT-X 8x in Crossfire mode

Who agrees with this?

Most of the forum unfortunatly

Although I would highly suggest two X1900XT cards or even two 7900GTO/GTX cards instead of a pair of the heavily overpriced X1950XTX, which quite frankly aren't as cost effective as one 8800GTX.

The two cards are slightly faster, but have slightly less image quality.

I say take two 7900GTOs, you'll save yourself over £100, get near identical performance, and in most games you're not going to notice the image quality anyway. They're damn fine cards, those GTOs - they clock to GTX speeds out of the box.

If you must have a single card, then it would be far better to wait. You're looking at two or three months, and we're going to have a refresh and also R600, which at worst will drive prices down. Win win!

thanks but i've decided not to go Nvidia dual SLi, for the board i want it would mean getting AMD AM2 , and from every post i read, that REALLY would be a waste of money!

i would allways go single card, yes dual card systems can be very very powerfull but from the amount of posts on here i would say dual is never the easy option. if you got the cash get the most powerufll single card you can.

Yeah id go single card to, the GTX is as fast as the 2x x1950 XTX's, its faster in some games, slightly slower in others, costs less and uses a lot less power, and gives out a lot less heat. :)

Be smart get the 8800 :)

Just set the money aside and wait for the 8800's to reach a reasonable price. When ATI brings at a card that competes against it the prices are gonna drop so fast.
