Hey this is going to be hard to explain, but when using crossfire under heavy gaming the screen has this waving effect, kind of like the heat on a summers day. it continues if i minimise the game

what could be the issue here?

Are you talking about screen tearing? Is it like a ripple appearing on the screen ?

yes, i have had the same thing it's like the way an old TV worked the picture go's in waves bottom to top.

if you have an over clock drop it off, the card throttle around 85c.
reset and close any OC'ing programs like AB and trixx, and report back after testing

Also close any silly little app the eat up CPU/GPU power

vsync kind of stops it but makes artifacts appear on some games.

i'm going to underclock the gpu's see if it works

I've had this myself on some games while I had my own crossfire setup - vsync pretty much fixed it for me - so I'd have vsync enabled on non twitch based games - and just had to deal with it on whatever games it happened on :-/

My issue was just screen tear - I never had the issue where if I applied vsync I'd get artifacts - that sounds like an unstable overclock to me :(

What type of monitor do you have? CRT? I don't think an LCD/digital cable can cause interference like that unless it's backlight strobing or something? is your refresh rate set correctly and do you have another monitor or TV you can test with just to rule out a monitor issue/fault?

good idea mmj! I will test it out on my lg tv! and see if it happens

Its more of a shimmer, it is so bloody annoying. My friend said i should use two crossfire bridges but i know thats a stupid idea.

I just feel like selling the cards and getting nvidia i just hate it, almost makes reading unbearable.

I think I bloody well fixed it!!!

I realised that my monitor was running analog instead of digital so I popped down marlin and got a new dvi cable and now the monitor is back to digital and it seems to have sorted the problem out but I can't understand why

but now that i've switched to digital, the same monitor in analog is displayed as a 3rd monitor that i can't delete!!
