So, turned on my PC this morning.
Fans, lights, horrid graunching noise and shutdown. Powered off for minute, then the same again.
Eventually, the mobo gave three short beeps to inform me that my graphics card was playing up- odd, it's been working fine for the last month or two...
I removed my (second PCI-E slot) 5850, and left just the main 5870 in there- boot no problem, straight to the desktop.
The fan on the 5850 has been making some 'bearings seen better days' noises lately. Has anyone else had problems like these? It's an XFX Black Edition 5850 with the stock cooler...
Oh well, at least my system still works anyway, albeit with a solo GFX card.
Thoroughly expecting to plug the second card back in later and everything will be fine. Hopefully, as I hadn't put the securing screw in the backplate, it had just worked itself a bit loose in the slot. (Fingers crossed...).
Still, that's my blood pressure nicely elevated for a Monday morning!
